Dawson Lowe Lands Red Clay 602 Late Model Series Victory at North Georgia Speedway
(CHATSWORTH, GEORGIA) The Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series roared into North Georgia Speedway on Friday night and it was Knoxville, Tennessee’s Dawson Lowe that emerged victorious to stretch his current series point lead! Dawson, who topped Group B during qualifying at the Chatsworth, Georgia oval to earn the outside of the front row, officially led each and every circuit of the 25-lap feature to claim his first series win of the season. He finished 0.154 of a second ahead of a charging Cooper Twiggs to bag the $2,000 first place prize money.
Cooper, who rolled off from the outside of the fifth row in the A-Main, earned Hard Charger honors for his stellar runner-up performance. Bryson Hickman, who sits a close second in the series point tally, started and finished third to round out the podium on Friday in the Peach State. Logan McClanahan moved up a spot to finish fourth at the checkered flag, while Spencer Singleton held the final position inside of the top five.
A total of 30 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series competitors were on hand on Friday at North Georgia Speedway to do battle in round five of the tour. Feature winner Dawson Lowe was quick right off the trailer, as he went fastest in RaceDay Safety hot laps with a time of 14.089 seconds. Justyn Jacobs then stole the show during Knowles Race Parts and Bodies qualifying by laying down a quick lap of 14.270 seconds. The pair of consolation races were won by Charles Devine and Cass Fowler, while Jim Gray, Evan Bell, and Ryan Clay were all awarded series provisionals.
With five different winners in the first five races, the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series now gears up for a trip to Alabama on May 1-2. West Alabama Speedway in Winfield, Alabama will play host to a $2,000 to win throwdown on Friday, while Buckshot Speedway in Clanton, Alabama will preside over Saturday’s weekend finale that boasts a $2,500 payday. Dawson Lowe will bring a scant eight-point lead into the Alabama double-dip with Bryson Hickman, Cass Fowler, Charles Devine, Zane Littleton, and the rest of the series regulars looking to make up ground.
