Scott Bloomquist Memorial Scorcher Set for Thursday, September 17 at Volunteer Speedway
(BULLS GAP, TENNESSEE) The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Showtime Properties will roll into the ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway this Thursday night, September 17 to sanction the ‘Scott Bloomquist Memorial Scorcher.’ The single-day shootout at the Bulls Gap, Tennessee venue will honor the late, great Scott Bloomquist, who amassed twenty-three SAS feature victories in his illustrious career along with about every crown jewel race imaginable. The Super Late Models will be vying for a $12,018 top prize on Thursday out of a nearly $40,000 feature purse.
After sixteen Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series shows so far in 2026, there have been twelve different winners - Brandon Overton (3 victories), Tucker Anderson (3 victories), Chris Madden, Trae Kirk, Bo Slay, Sam Seawright, Shane Clanton, Michael Page, Jadon Frame, Zack Mitchell, Garrett Smith, and Kaede Loudy. Anderson currently sits atop of the SAS point standings by 132 markers over Kendall Franklin. Dillon Daves, Billy Franklin, and Will Hicks round out the top five in the latest version of the tour standings.
Joining the Super Late Models on the racing card at “The Gap” on Thursday will be the Sportsman ($800 to win), Street Stock ($600 to win), and Crown Vic ($700 to win) divisions. The pit gates will open at 3:00pm, while fans will start to pack the grandstands at 4:00pm. The drivers meeting is set for 6:00pm and hot laps will light up the racetrack at 6:30pm.
Grandstand admission will be $30.00 for adults, $10.00 for kids ages 6-12, and FREE for small children ages 5 and under. Pit admission will be $45.00 for adults, $10.00 for kids ages 6-12, and FREE for children ages 5 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ticketor.com/thegaptix. Super Late Model body rules and the Droop Rule will be the same as those agreed on by both the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series - among others.
