Luke Cooper Cashes In at I-75 Raceway for $2,000 Red Clay Series Victory!
(SWEETWATER, TENNESSEE) Luke Cooper, of Woodruff, South Carolina, captured his second Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series triumph of the 2026 campaign on Saturday night at I-75 Raceway! Luke swept the evening’s program at the Sweetwater, Tennessee venue by laying down both the fastest laps during the hot lap and qualifying sessions prior to pacing the field for each of the 25 circuits during the headliner. At the checkers, Luke was 2.322 seconds ahead of the field to claim the $2,000 first place prize money.
Jonathan McKenzie, who rolled off third on the grid in the 25-lapper, vaulted up to the second spot with only three circuits remaining to nab an impressive runner-up effort. April’s series winner at I-75 Raceway - Bryson Hickman - rounded out the podium in third. Zach Sise started and finished fourth, while Darren Deverell moved up a position to grab the final spot inside of the top five.
The fourteenth feature of the Red Clay 602 Late Model Series season was slowed by only one caution flag. Outside polesitter Dawson Lowe, who was running second, shredded a right rear tire with only a trio of laps left in the contest. He was able to rebound to salvage a seventh place showing. A total of 16 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series competitors were on hand for the event, which co-headlined the night’s racing program with the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series.
Next up for the cars and stars racing with the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series will be a visit to Harris Speedway in Rutherfordton, North Carolina on Saturday, September 26. Another $2,000 payday will be up for grabs in the special event, which was postponed by rain back on August 1. In the fourteen events completed so far in 2026, only Luke Cooper and Dawson Lowe have reached victory lane on two different occasions. Single race winners include Wyatt Coffey, Cody Overton, Bryson Hickman, Nick Deitz, Chris Woods, Booger Brooks, Charles Devine, Pearson Lee Williams, Dale Timms, and Frankie Beard. Although he has not won yet with the tour this year, Cass Fowler currently sits atop of the latest point standings over Dawson Lowe, Spencer Singleton, Luke Cooper, and Jim Gray. At season’s end, only the best SIXTEEN races for each driver will count towards the final point tally.
