David McCoy Masters Hartwell Motor Speedway for $2,000 Red Clay Series Triumph

(HARTWELL, GEORGIA) David McCoy, of Franklin, North Carolina, celebrated in Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series victory lane for the first time in 2026 on Friday evening at Hartwell Motor Speedway! David, who earned Fast Time honors during the qualifying session, rolled off from the outside of the front row in the 25-lap feature and claimed the top spot at the drop of the green flag. He then led each and every circuit to bag the $2,000 windfall at the newly-revamped Hartwell, Georgia facility.

Finishing 2.218 seconds back in the runner-up spot was Luke Cooper, who came into Hartwell winning four of the last five series races. Sixth-starting Devon Morgan rounded out the podium in third, while Jay Coen started and finished in the fourth position. Jody Wilson, who started fifth on the grid and dropped back to as far as eighth, was able to make a late race charge to get back up inside of the top five at the unfurling of the checkered flag.

A total of 26 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series competitors made their way to Hartwell Motor Speedway on Friday for round seventeen of the tour. John Anderson went quickest overall during RaceDay Safety hot laps, while David McCoy topped the speed chart during Knowles Race Parts and Bodies qualifying. The top eight qualifiers from each group were automatically locked into the 25-lapper, while the remaining six cars came out of the lone B-Main that was won by Shaun Thomas.

Next up for the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series will be a trio of events in the Palmetto State from October 23-25. The ‘Modoc 100’ will be held this Friday and Saturday at Modoc Speedway in Modoc, South Carolina. The 602 Late Models will vie for a $2,000 payday in Friday’s weekend opener, while a $2,500 top prize awaits the winner of Saturday’s show. On Sunday, the 602 Late Models will gun for a $2,000 winner’s check during the 36th Annual ‘Blue Grey 100’ at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina.
