Luke Cooper Claims Fifth Red Clay Series Win of 2026 Season Saturday at Lavonia

(LAVONIA, GEORGIA) Luke Cooper continued his winning ways with the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series on Saturday night in the ‘Charlie Mize Memorial’ at Lavonia Speedway! Luke laid down the second quickest lap in Group B during the qualifying session, which locked him into the outside of the second row for the start of the 25-lap main event. The young Woodruff, South Carolina native then grabbed the point on the sixth circuit and led the rest of the way to capture his fifth series win of the year.

At the checkered flag, Luke was ahead by 1.418 seconds to pocket the $2,500 first place prize money. Finishing a strong runner-up at the historic Lavonia, Georgia oval was fifth-starting Devon Morgan, who found himself on the podium for a second straight night. Outside polesitter and early race leader Brandon Haley rounded out the podium in third. Jay Coen, who sat on the pole of the ‘Charlie Mize Memorial’ came home in the fourth spot, while Cade Cagle passed five competitors to nab the final position inside of the top five.

A total of 17 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series competitors piled into the Lavonia Speedway pit area for round eighteen of the tour. The entire feature field was set solely through qualifying, with Jay Coen and Brandon Haley topping their respective groups. After the dust settled at the Peach State venue, Cass Fowler still sits atop of the series point standings ahead of Spencer Singleton and Luke Cooper. At season’s end, only the best SIXTEEN point races for each driver will count towards the final standings.

Next up for the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series will be a trio of events in the Palmetto State from October 23-25. The ‘Modoc 100’ will be held this Friday and Saturday at Modoc Speedway in Modoc, South Carolina. The 602 Late Models will vie for a $2,000 payday in Friday’s weekend opener, while a $2,500 top prize awaits the winner of Saturday’s show. On Sunday, the 602 Late Models will gun for a $2,000 winner’s check during the 36th Annual ‘Blue Grey 100’ at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina.
