I just checked the 5 day weather forecast for this weekends Championship Late Model Association DIRTcar Southern Series Presented by Indy Screen Print races at El Paso Speedway Park and Southern New Mexico Speedway on August 17 & 18th and it looks great. It is supposed to be in the low to mid 90's with 0% chance of rain both days. It should be some perfect weather for some Super Late Model racing!!!!

Another great driver that well be racing with the Championship Late Model Association DIRTcar Southern Series Presented by Indy Screen at El Paso Speedway Park and Southern New Mexico Speedway on August 17th & 18th is R.C. Whitwell of Tuscan, Arizona.
After moving to Missouri and racing with the MARS DIRTcar Series for the past year and a half R.C. has decided to move back to Tuscan and race around home. He had one win with the MARS DIRTcar Series in 2011 and finshished 3rd in series points. Since R.C Whitwell has came back home he has been on fire. He has won the only two late model races that he has entered with the SWDRA at Tuscan and Show Low.
This will be the first time that he has raced a late model at either track, but he has been to Soutern New Mexico a few times with his modified so he knows his way around the track. If R.C. continues to run as fast as he has for the past month he will be a big threat to win this weekend.

Results for the Championship Late Model Association DIRTcar Southern Series Presented by Indy Screen Print at El Paso Speedway Park on Friday, August 17th.
All of the rain that came down Thursday night caused for a wild, fast track this Friday for the Championship Late Model Association DIRTcar Southern Series Presented by Indy Screen Print. Front row starters #8p Lonnie Parker of Glendale, AZ and #99 Scott Lewis of Henderson, CO would put on one of the best shows of the year. Lewis took the lead going into corner one at the start and looked like he was going to check out and walk away with the win, but when he caught lapped traffic it would cause problems. As Lewis was dealing with lapped traffic Parker was able to slip by around on lap 5. Then Parker bobbled and Lewis made small contact and took the lead. Lewis and Parker would swap the lead and some paint a few more times before Parker ended up having no were to go and running into the back of a lapped car with 5 laps to go. This contact would push Parkers fan threw his radiotor and end his night and the great battle for the win early. Lewis would lead the remaining 5 laps and cruise to the win.
It was almost a 1-2 finish for the Lewis's but on the last restart #72 Jeff Whyman of Albuquerque, NM was able to get around #19 Steve Lewis of Denver, CO and pick up his career best finish of 2nd with the CLMA DIRTcar Series. Steve Lewis would hold on to 3rd and #37h Garrett Higgins of Aztec, NM and #12a Dave Deetz of Las Cruces, NM would round out the top 5.
