CARTERSVILLE, GA – Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS, Bill Stewart of Ovett, MS, and Joel Landers took 50-point NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies Week 1 wins to share the top of the National point standings. Mike Lane of Pace, FL and David Windham of Florala, AL took 40-point wins during Week 1 action.
Leftwich drove the Leftwich Plumbing Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to his first career NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division win on Saturday night by topping a 17-car field at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Stewart outran a 15-car field on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS.
Landers won the first-ever NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division race on Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, TN. A total of 17 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stocks competed in the inaugural event at Duck River Raceway Park.
Lane captured his first NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division win of the season on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL driving the Rocketman Race
Cars Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. Windham was the winner on Saturday night at Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL driving the Florala Pharmacy Chevrolet.
Both Lane and Windham only totaled 40 points for their respective wins because they came against fields of less than eight cars. The NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division race scheduled for Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL was cancelled due to cold temperatures.
After Week 1 of the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division 27-week season, there are three-way ties for the first, fourth, seventh, and tenth positions in the National point standings.
Richie Stephens of Salem, AL, Mike Palmiter of Meridian, MS and E.J. Carter are tied for the fourth spot with 49 points apiece in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division National point standings after Week 1 second-place finishes. Stephens finished second on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway, Palmiter took second on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, and Carter was second on Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park.
David Williamson of Seminary, MS, Kyle Rutledge of Meridian, MS and John Smartt all had Week 1 third-place finishes to tie for the seventh spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings with 48 points apiece. Williamson finished third on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway, Rutledge was third on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, and Smartt drove to a third-place finish on Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park.
NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 1 fourth-place finishes by Jason Jarrell of Hattiesburg, MS, Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS, and Russell Booth created a three-way tie for the tenth spot in the National point standings. Jarrell was fourth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway, Whittington finished fourth on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, and Booth took the fourth spot on Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park.
