From August 1st at Boothill Speedway near Shreveport, Louisiana, check this out...

Only classes running were Factory Stocks (a Pure Stock-type class) using ungrooved $30 asphalt pull-off slicks on dirt and Sport Mods. 134 Factory Stocks entered along with 24 Sport Mods (B-Mod, Limited Mod-type cars).

Now this is at a track that was originally opened in 1972. It is had at least a race a year since then.

As you can imagine, there are a lot of challenges running a track that's been around that long. It's had some hard times recently.

There was no racing at the track on July 18th or 25th. Boothill works with Ark-La-Tex Speedway and Lonestar Speedway on rotating dates around. They never race against each other.

Here is the crowd from July 11th at Boothill. It was a regular purse 'weekly show' for the most part. Raced Modifieds, Sport Mods, Factory Stocks and a small series called Southern DIRT Mods which are cool 'east coast style 'big block' Mods but are only averaging about 10 cars a race down here.



Not terribly bad but nothing in comparison to Aug 1st. We can speculate about all kinds of reasons why. It was probably enough though to keep them going... Enough to take the gamble on The King-of-THE-HILL.
