Thomas Awarded Whynot Chevy Super Series Win After Page Disqualification

CARTERSVILLE, GA – William Thomas of Phenix City, AL has been declared the winner of the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series 50-lap race on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. This comes after Chevy Super Series officials disqualified the apparent winner Michael Page of Douglasville, GA for unapproved valve springs.

The valve springs in the Chevrolet Performance CT525 Engine Page had under the hood of Page’s race car were deemed by Chevrolet Performance Engineers in Detroit, MI to be unapproved replacement valve springs for that engine. Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model series officials have adjusted the finishing order and the point standings.

The win for Thomas in the Austin Trucking GRT was his fifth career Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series victory. The first four wins came in 2013 when Thomas captured the inaugural Chevy Super Series National Championship.

The next two races for the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series will take place at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL on May 13 with a 30-lap $2,000-to-win race. The series will then travel to East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL on May 14 for the $3,000-to-win Annual Jimmy Thomas Memorial 50.
