Dylan Ames Surges to Top 5 at the Mag; World 100 Next

Harvest, Alabama (08/30/16) – Dylan Ames overcame bad luck early in the night to power his Ames Land & Cattle Company #77 Capital Race Car/Jay D ickens Racing Engine Super Late Model to a Top 5 finish at Magnolia Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

Running with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS), Dylan Ames made the trip Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Saturday night. In a field of 36 Super Late Models, Dylan’s night started off on a sour note as he lost first gear on the transmission during hot laps. After qualifying 9th fastest in his group in time trials Ames advanced to a 3rd-place finish in his heat race. The team had a minute to catch their breath after the heat race and used the opportunity to install a new transmission.

Earning the 14th-starting spot for the $2,500-to-win A-Main via his performance in preliminary action, Ames charged through the field ten spots to land a 4th-place finish in the 50 lapper behind Eric Cooley, Dane Dacus, and Jimmy Cliburn with Jason Hiett coming in 5th.

“We definitely had some curveballs thrown at us early in the night, but my team never batted an eye, and we recovered to have a great finish,” said Ames. “That gives me some confidence heading to Eldora Speedway for the World 100. I’ve always wanted to go there. I’ve only seen the place on videos, so I’m really excited to go there and race.”

Ames will not race anywhere over the course of the Labor Day weekend as he and the team focus on preparing for the 46th annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway. The crown jewel event is scheduled for September 8-10. Action opens on Thursday with twin $10,000-to-win features. Friday will again see twin $10,000-to-win events contested. The weekend draws to a close with the granddaddy of all Dirt Late Model events, the World 100 finale, which posts a $49,000 top prize.
