Cory Hedgec ock Tops NeSmith Series Action at the Hornet’s Nest

Loudon, Tennessee (07/05/17) –Cory Hedgec ock continued his winning ways over the weekend by piloting his Cushman #23 Valley Transport/Rocket Chassis XR1/ Eagle Racing entry to the $2,000 NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series win at Talladega Short Track.

The victory was his 15th of the 2017 season.

“This new Rocket XR1 is plain and simple bad to the bone,” Hedgec ock said. “This is by far the best racecar that I’ve had, and it’s showing in our results. A major shootout also goes out to my team for all of their hard work. Last but not least I want to thank all of my sponsors for allowing me to compete at such a high level.”

After Mother Nature postponed the weekend opener at ECM Speedway (Bremen, Alabama), Cory Hedgec ock made the trip to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama) on Sunday for the opening night of the Salute to America Nationals.

Drawing 37 Crate Late Models for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series event, Hedgec ock timed in second fastest overall in qualifying, locking him into a front row, starting spot for the feature. After running into the Top 5 early, Cory made the decision to head pitside on lap 36 as track conditions continued to get worse. He was credited with a 14th-place outing.

Monday night brought Hedgec ock to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama) to compete against a solid field of 38 NeSmith Crate Late Models. Laying down the fifth-fastest time overall at the track, which is known as “The Hornet’s Nest,” Cory earned the 5th-starting position for the feature. Topping the field by more than two seconds, Cory Hedgec ock stormed to his 15th win of the year and a $2,000 payday. Jake Knowles, Brad Berry, Austin Horton, and Jimmy Elliott completed the Top 5 finishers.

Cory continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series point standings. For full results from these events, please visit www.NeSmithRacing.com .
