Ricky Weiss Romps to Red River Co-op Cash
Headingly, Manitoba, Canada (07/11/17) – Thursday night found Ricky Weiss picking up his second triumph in three weeks at Red River Co-op Speedway in his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7 A.I.E. Communications/ Bloomquist Chassis Late Model.
The victory was third overall of the 2017 campaign.
“This was a nice way to put an exclamation point on our trip home,†Weiss said. “The track was awesome, and I had a blast out there. It was awesome having so many friends and family there, and then getting another win was just the icing on the cake.â€
Back behind the wheel of the A.I.E. Communications #7 Super Late Model, Ricky Weiss returned to Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Manitoba) on Thursday for the regular night of racing. Earning the 8th-starting position for the feature via preliminary events, Ricky charged through the field early and took control of the top spot. After a caution came out with 2 to go, Weiss held off a hard-charging Dustin Strand to pick up his third win of the season over Strand, Kevin Sexton, Shane Edginton, and Mike Martin.
After taking Friday night off, Weiss was back in action on Saturday night at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) for the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series sanctioned event. Drawing 36 Super Late Models for the Bigelow Homes Gopher 50, Ricky secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with a 4th-place finish in his heat race. Starting in the 13th position for the feature, Ricky Weiss fell one spot in the 50-lapper, recording a 14th-place outing.

Ricky initially had planned to enter the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals but has decided to race closer to home for the next few weeks. Wednesday, July 12 will take Weiss to Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) for an $8,000-to-win, World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series event, while Thursday will find him at Hibbing Raceway (Hibbing, Minnesota) where he’ll compete in a $8,000-to-win, WoO event. Friday night will see him in action at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota) in a $10,000-to-win affair.)
On Saturday evening he plans to enter a Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA) event at Greenbush Speedway (Greenbush, Minnesota) before wrapping his long weekend up at ALH Motor Speedway (Morden, Manitoba) on Sunday evening in a Modified event.
