Dennis Erb Racing Heads North to Badger State for Lucrative Five Day Stretch
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. and his #28 team are currently in the Badger State of Wisconsin for a lucrative five day stretch with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series, which kicks off later tonight at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in a $10,000 to win program. Another $10,000 top prize will then be on the line on Wednesday, August 2 at Shawano Speedway in Shawano, Wisconsin.
The dirt-slinging action will then quickly turn to the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin from August 3-5 for the annual running of the ‘USA Nationals.’ A $6,000 winner’s check will be up for grabs in Thursday’s preliminary show, while qualifying and heat races for the ‘USA Nationals’ will take center stage at CLS on Friday night. The consolation events and the 100-lap ‘USA Nationals’ finale will then be held on Saturday evening, as drivers will gun for the gigantic $50,000 windfall. Dennis knocked down a solid tenth place effort in last year’s version of the crown jewel extravaganza. Dennis Erb Racing is fresh off a hectic week in their home state of Illinois from July 25-29, as they invaded Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois, Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Illinois, and Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. Dennis’ best finish came on Tuesday at Mighty Macon in the $12,000 to win 'St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100.' Dennis qualified twenty-fourth fastest overall during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series time trials before advancing to fifth in his stacked heat race. After starting the 100-lap grind from the inside of the eighth row and getting caught up in a lap 31 incident, the Carpentersville, Illinois star was able to blast up inside of the top ten - eventually placing eighth in the final rundown at the tiny 1/5-mile oval.
At Fayette County Speedway on Wednesday night, an $8,000 payday awaited the winner of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series special. Dennis placed fourth in his stacked heat race to earn the outside of the fifth row for the start of the 40-lapper. Unfortunately, he was an early retiree in the A-Main and was paid for twenty-fourth at the pay window.
Over the weekend, the 28th edition of the ‘Prairie Dirt Classic’ was held in dowtown Fairbury and the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series biggie paid a whopping $30,000 to the victor. Dennis clicked off the twentieth fastest lap in Group A during Friday’s qualifying session before blasting up to fourth in his $2,500 to win prelim feature to finish behind only race winner Shane Clanton, Ryan Unzicker, and Brian Shirley. After rolling off in Saturday’s 100-lap PDC from the outside of the seventh row, Dennis drove up inside of the top ten before eventually sliding back to fourteenth by the time the checkered flag fell over the talented field.
