Bernheisel Racing and Dieffenbach’s® Kettle Chips Expand Sponsorship and Add a New Car Number for 2018
Jonestown, Pennsylvania (02/21/18) – Jim Bernheisel – who is the patriarch of Bernheisel Racing – will be tackling the 2018 campaign with not only a new brand sponsorship but also a new car number.
“We are very thankful to be welcoming Uglies® Kettle Cooked Chips on board for the 2018 season,†Jim Bernheisel notes. “Everyone knows that it’s not easy to get sponsors, so anytime you can take an existing sponsor relationship and expand it, it’s a big deal.â€
The Uglies® brand is part of the Dieffenbach’s Family of snack brands.
“This brand was created with a mission to ‘Reduce Waste’ and ‘Fight Hunger,’†according to Nevin Dieffenbach, CEO of Dieffenbach’s Kettle Chips.

Not only will Bernheisel be sporting a new brand on the side of his familiar Lazer Chassis, but he will also be donning a throwback car number.
“When I first started racing I wanted my number to 71, but there was already a 71 at my local track. I thought about adding a number on the end, but back then you weren’t allowed any letters in your number, so I just added a 1 in front of it to make it 171,†Bernheisel reminisces.
“A few years after that I had an engine owner that wanted my cars to run the 119 on the side. I won the first few races with the 119 on the side, so even after I split ways with that gentleman I decided to keep the number on my cars. I guess you could say the rest is history. For this year, I thought it would be fun to bring the 171 back, so that’s what we are going to do.â€
In 2018 Jim will split time between his Uglies Kettle Cooked Chips #171 Lazer Chassis Late Model and his #119 Lazer Chassis Modified.
“I’ve been racing for a long time, so it’s fun to see things come full circle. We’re looking to have a lot of fun this season and win some races along the way,†Bernheisel concludes.
