Ricky Weiss Takes Toccoa’s Southern Nationals Bonus Series Cash
Strong Southern Weekend for Canadian Racer

Headingly, Manitoba, Canada (03/19/18) – Ricky Weiss returned to winning form on Saturday night in his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7w Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Vic Hill Racing Engine Late Model. The Canadian racer picked up a $6,400 winner’s check at Toccoa Raceway with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series.

“Wow, what a weekend for our team,” Weiss noted. “We had a really good car on Friday night at Tri County, and maybe I was a little conservative because I wanted to make sure we had a car left for Saturday night. It definitely worked out because we were able to win at Toccoa Raceway. I just want to thank Shawn (Gage), Scott (Bloomquist), and everyone that is helping me on this racecar. We’ve really got a great piece this year and I’m truly grateful for everyone’s support.”

On Friday night Ricky Weiss visited Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, North Carolina), where he entered the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series-sanctioned contest. With 21 Super Late Models in the pit area, Weiss timed in second fastest in qualifying behind Shane Clanton before running 2nd to Clanton in the 40-lap feature. Casey Roberts, Shawn Chastain, and Jamie Oliver completed the Top-5 finishers.

Saturday night brought Ricky to Toccoa Raceway (Toccoa, Georgia) as he once again went into battle with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series. Earning the fourth-starting position for the feature after laying down the down fastest time in his qualifying group, Weiss overtook Casey Roberts on lap 18 and held the top spot for the next 46 circuits to capture his third win of the season and a $6,400 payday.

Shanon Buckingham, David Payne, Zack Mitchell, and Brent Dixon rounded out the Top-5 finishers in the 64-lap affair.

Ricky now leads the series standings by 14 markers. For more results from these events as well as the latest series standings, please visit www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com .

The upcoming weekend – March 22-24 – will find Ricky taking part in a three-race swing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). Action opens on Thursday with a $10,000-to-win event at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee). Friday night takes the team to Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) for a $12,000-to-win program, while Saturday night will find a $12,000 top prize on the line at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama).
