Rhett Carter Captures First Win of 2018; Golden Isles on Deck
Blackshear, Georgia (04/18/18) – It’s been a challenging start to the 2018 season for Rhett Carter and his team. However, they got things turned in the right direction on Friday night with a victory at Oglethorpe Speedway Park with their Continental Tire #44 Swamp Fox Insurance Agency/ XR1 Rocket Chassis / Wildcat Performance Engines Late Model.
“Man, it’s felt like we’ve had a bullseye on our back to start this season, because we’ve perpetually been in the wrong place at the wrong time,†Carter said. “It felt great to get the win on Friday at Oglethorpe. Honestly, we should’ve had two wins this weekend, but a lapped car got us on Saturday night at Waycross. I still consider the weekend a net positive though, and hopefully we’ve got things back on track.â€
Friday night found Rhett Carter in action at Oglethorpe Speedway Park (Pooler, Georgia) as he entered a Weekly Racing Series Event. Earning the second-starting position for the feature via preliminary events, Rhett topped the 17-car field to capture his first win of the season. Branden Yawn and Bob Robertson completed the podium finishers.
The following night took the team to Waycross Motor Speedway (Waycross, Georgia) for a $3,000-to-win event. Rhett locked his spot into the main event by registering the fastest time overall in qualifying. After jumping out to a sizeable early lead, Carter got his right-rear tire cut down after contact with a lapped car, ending his night early.
