Josh Richards Scores Runner-Up Finish at Port Royal
Tri City Speedway and Macon Speedway Up Next

St. Marys, Ohio (04/26/18) – It was an up-and-down weekend of competition with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) for Josh Richards and the Best Performance Motorsports team.

Richards would ultimately end the weekend on a high note with a podium finish in the team’s Bulk Material Lift #1 Colt/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.

After seeing Friday's slate at Sharon Speedway (Hartford, Ohio) postponed by poor weather, the weekend opened on Saturday night at the legendary Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Maryland) with the $12,000-to-win, 37th annual Stanley Schetrompf Classic.

Struggles in preliminary action forced Richards to utilize a provisional to start the main event in the 23rd position. He would fight tooth-and-nail in the feature to surge to a 12th-place finish at the checkered flag.

On Sunday evening the team trekked to the sprawling confines of Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pennsylvania) for the $10,000-to-win, Rumble by the River. Forty-three drivers took to the 1/2-mile oval, and a heat race win sent Josh to the 50-lap finale with the third-starting spot.

Richards raced in a podium position throughout the event and even made a bid for the lead on a green-white-checkered finish before coming up just short of the win as he finished second behind Scott Bloomquist. Earl Pearson Jr., Tim McCreadie, and Darrell Lanigan rounded out the Top-5 finishers.

"We had a great car tonight; those restarts weren't very good for us, but we recovered and gave the Best Performance Team a good finish tonight," Richards said following his runner-up performance at Port Royal Speedway. "Last night at Hagerstown we had a rough night. We worked on some things today. If it could have gone caution free tonight it might have been a different story. This place is so fun to drive on. Thanks to all the fans for coming out tonight. I wish we could race here tomorrow."

With the weekend's action in the books, Josh continues to sit second in the latest series standings. For full results from the events as well as the latest series standings, please visit www.LucasDirt.com .

The upcoming weekend – April 27-28 – will have the team elbows deep in LOLMDS competition once again. On Friday night a $12,000-to-win slate is on tap at the Gundaker-owned Tri City Speedway (Pontoon Beach, Illinois). Saturday evening takes the team to the “Mighty” Macon Speedway as drivers look to tame the 1/5-mile bullring.
