Scott Bloomquist Parks It at Port Royal with LOLMDS
Tennessee Racer Has Eight Top Two Finishes in Past Eight Events
Mooresburg, Tennessee (04/26/18) – Scott Bloomquist continued his recent hot streak in his Reece Monuments #0 Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model over the weekend.
The Tennessee racer picked up a win and runner-up finish in weekend action with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS).
Saturday night found Scott invading the legendary Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Maryland) for the 37th annual Stanley Schetrompf Classic.
A heat race win positioned Scott third on the starting grid for the $12,000-to-win event. He began his pursuit of race leader Jonathan Davenport from the drop of the green flag. Scott would hold the runner-up spot throughout the 50 lapper before crossing the finish line in the second position behind Davenport. Tyler Bare, Tim McCreadie and Mason Zeigler completed the Top-5 finishers.
The Rumble by the River took Bloomquist to Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pennsylvania) on Sunday night, where 43 entries looked to take a shot at the $10,000 winner's check.
After winning his heat race Scott started fourth in the feature and took the lead on lap 2. He paced the field throughout the event, and not even a late-race caution could stop his march to his second series win of the season and fourth overall win of the year.
Josh Richards, Earl Pearson Jr., Tim McCreadie, and Darrell Lanigan completed the Top-5 finishers.
"We have run really well since Florida," Bloomquist said. "Last weekend, we had a win and a second-place finish, and this weekend a second and a win. The car, the engine, the shocks, everything is working well," said the 54-year-old Bloomquist in Lucas Oil Victory Lane.
"We had good rotation, it carried around the high-line tonight. The car could work low, the middle, or high. I tried to run up high in three and four because my momentum would be really good off the turn-4 corner. When we had to go to the bottom to pass lapped cars we could. Thanks to Randy Sweet and everybody at Sweet Manufacturing."
Scott continues to make up ground in his pursuit of a fourth LOLMDS title. He's now third in the latest standings. Full results from the weekend are available at www.LucasDirt.com .
This weekend – April 27-28 – Scott will continue to focus on winning races and working his way forward in the LOLMDS standings. On Friday night he’ll pursue a $12,000 top prize at Tri City Speedway before looking to tame the “Mighty†Macon Speedway on Saturday night and the $12,000 reward that comes with it.
