Dale McDowell Wins with WoO at Smoky Mountain
Sights Set on Senoia at WoO this Saturday
Mooresburg, Tennessee (05/01/18) – After suffering heavy damage to his car on Friday night, Dale McDowell bounced back on Saturday night to take his Shane McDowell Racing #17m Will Kinzer Foundation/ Sweet-Bloomquist Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to Victory Lane with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series at Smoky Mountain Speedway.
“Everybody worked hard on the car last night and today to get it repaired,†McDowell said after picking up the $10,000 victory. “Shane (McDowell) had to go back and get some parts from the shop. That’s a big part of it. Last night we turned our transponder in because we didn’t think we were going to make it. However, everybody jumped in and fixed it, and here we are tonight in Victory Lane. This was truly a total team effort.â€
Friday night found Dale McDowell in action at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) as he took part in the opening round of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series doubleheader. In a field of 27 cars, McDowell dropped one spot in his heat race, logging a third-place finish.
Earning the seventh-starting position for the opening night feature, Dale was an early retiree on lap-33 after suffering severe damage to his car.
Working all night and all day, McDowell’s crew was able to get the car repaired in time for the second night of action. He started the night by laying down the sixth-fastest time in his qualifying group before streaking to a 10-lap heat race victory.
Earning the outside-front-row starting position for the A-Main, Dale jumped to the lead on the opening circuit and held the top spot for all 50-laps to capture his fourth win of the season and a $10,000 payday.
Chris Madden, Brandon Sheppard, Michael Chilton, and Shanon Buckingham completed the Top-5 finishers.
