Jake Knowles Pilots New Car to First Win of 2018
Durrence Layne Dirt Late Model Series Double Dip on Tap
Rome, Georgia (05/15/18) – Jake Knowles debuted a new Knowles Race Parts & Bodies #66 Longhorn Chassis Late Model in fine style on Saturday night at Boyd’s Speedway.
The talented 32-year-old racer took the car to Victory Lane on its maiden voyage.
“It was a crazy-busy week getting the new Longhorn ready for action, but it definitely paid off,†Knowles said. “So many people helped me get ready in time for this week’s show, and I can’t thank them enough for their support. It’s a great feeling anytime you can win the first night out with a new car, and it definitely feels awesome to get the first win of the year.â€
Debuting a brand-new Longhorn Chassis #66 Crate Late Model, Jake Knowles visited Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) on Saturday evening, where he was competing in a field of 15 cars.
Jake started the night by laying down the third-fastest time in qualifying. He then streaked to a heat race victory, which earned him the pole position for the feature.
Leading flag-to-flag in the finale, Jake Knowles cruised to his first win of the season topping Drew Kennedy, Rick Hixson, Heath Hindman, and Josh Walker at the line.

The upcoming weekend – May 18-19 – will see Knowles going into a battle in a pair of Durrence Layne Dirt Late Model events in his home state of Georgia. Action opens on Friday night at Oglethorpe Speedway Park (Oglethorpe, Georgia) with a $4,000-to-win event. On Saturday evening Cochran Motor Speedway (Cochran, Georgia) will host a $2,500-to-win program.
Jake enters the weekend third in the latest series standings.
