Chris Ferguson Motors to Mike Butler Memorial Checkers at Cherokee
WoO Tennessee Double Shot Up Next

Mt. Holly, North Carolina (05/30/18) – Chris Ferguson turned his luck around on Sunday night at Cherokee Speedway, where he raced his Diff-Tran Machining #22 K and K Trucking/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engines Super Late Model to the $5,000 win in the Mike Butler Memorial.

It was the first win of the year for Ferguson, but more than that it represented that he and his team were turning around their fortunes.

“We haven’t had the best of luck the past month or so, but on the same hand we just haven’t had our program where it needs to be. We were really good at Cherokee though, and were able to get the win,” Ferguson noted. “This win shows that we are getting things pointed back in the right direction. Thanks as always goes to each-and-every person who supports my program and never gives up on us.”

Chris entered a single event over the course of the Memorial Day weekend as he trekked to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina) to compete in the Mike Butler Memorial, which was sanctioned by the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series.

Via preliminary action Ferguson earned the outside-front-row starting spot for the feature event. He was joined on the front row by Benji Hicks.

Hicks snared the lead as the race went green and Ferguson would pursue him until lap 14, when he took the lead. Over the remainder of the 40-lap affair Ferguson cruised to a 3.270-second victory. Joey Coulter, Johnny Pursley, Ross Bailes, and Benji Hicks completed the Top-5 finishers.

The win was the first of the year for Ferguson and the 17th of his career with the tour.

Ferguson resumes action with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series this weekend – June 1-2 – with a trip to Tennessee for a pair of $10,000-to-win events. The trip opens on Friday night at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) before moving to Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) on Saturday night.

Chris is currently second in the WoO Rookie of the Year battle and 10th in the overall standings.
