Tyler Millwood Notches Pair of Top-5 Finishes in Holiday Weekend Action
Georgia Racer Leads ULTIMATE Series into Doubleheader Weekend
Kingston, Georgia (05/30/18) – Tyler Millwood enjoyed a successful weekend behind the wheel of his Millwood Plumbing #31 Barry Wright Icon by Madden/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.
He recorded a pair of Top-5 finishes in North Carolina and Georgia during the course of the Memorial Day weekend.
“It was a great weekend for our team. I would’ve loved to have gotten the win at Dixie Speedway on Saturday, but if you’re going to get passed for the lead late in the race by somebody there is no shame in it being Dale McDowell,†Millwood said. “We keep gaining more and more speed, and I really appreciate everything my team is doing for me.â€
Friday night brought Tyler Millwood to 311 Motor Speedway (Pine Hall, North Carolina), where he led the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series into battle. Earning the ninth-starting position for the Bill Hicks Memorial A-Main, Tyler passed four cars in the 40-lap affair to finish fifth behind Benji Hicks, Joey Coulter, Johnny Pursley, and Dennis Franklin.
On Saturday night Tyler traveled to Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) for the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series sanctioned program. Laying down the fastest time overall in a field of 31 cars, Millwood, locked into the outside-front-row starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main.
Jumping to the lead at the drop of the green flag, Tyler held the top spot for the first 35 circuits until Dale McDowell made a high-line pass for the lead on lap-36.
Millwood would go onto register a runner-up finish behind McDowell with Austin Horton, Donald McIntosh, and Michael Page completing the Top-5 finishers.
