Austin Horton Registers Podium Finish at Dixie
Newnan, Georgia (05/30/18) – Mother Nature only allowed Austin Horton to enter a single event over the weekend in his Vape’s Gone Wild #16 Orr’s Towing/ Super K Express/ XR1 Rocket Chassis by Clint Smith Super Late Model, but he made the most of the opportunity by racing to a podium finish on Saturday night at Dixie Speedway.
“That was a really solid field at Dixie, so it says a lot about where our program is at to be able to get a Top-3 finish. After getting crashed out of the feature last week this was a really nice way for our team to bounce back into action,†Horton commented.
Saturday night brought Austin Horton to Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) for the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series-sanctioned contest. With 31 Super Late Models on hand, Horton locked his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with the second-fastest time in his qualifying group behind Tyler Millwood.
Earning the fourth-starting position, Horton advanced one spot in the 50-lap finale to finish third behind Dale McDowell and Tyler Millwood with Donald McIntosh and Michael Page completing the Top-5 finishers.
Sunday night’s scheduled event at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia) fell victim to rain.
