Ray Cook Battles Outlaws in Volunteer State; Readies for Visit to I-75 Raceway
(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The Wynn Motorsports team and driver Ray Cook invaded the Volunteer State of Tennessee on June 1-2 for a pair of World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series tilts - each of which paid $10,000 to the winner. On Friday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee, Ray qualified twenty-second fastest during the time trial session before grabbing the sixth and final transfer spot through his heat race. Ray then vaulted up inside of the top ten in the running order during the 50-lapper before fading late in the distance to wind up fourteenth in the final rundown.
Another $10,000 top prize was on the line on Saturday evening at the ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. Ray stopped the clock eighteenth quickest during qualifying prior to running fifth in his loaded heat race. The Brasstown, North Carolina standout then started the 50-lapper from the inside of the eighth row, but went down a lap early in the feature distance and later retired in the twenty-third position. Complete results from the WOOLMS double-dip in Tennessee can be found online at www.woolms.com.
The #53 team is now gearing up to head back to the Volunteer State this Saturday, June 9, as they will travel to I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee. The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series will sanction a single-day throwdown, which will boast a $3,000 winner’s check.
