Ray Cook Suffers Untimely Flat Tire Out Front at I-75; Ready for Kentucky Doubleheader
(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook and the Wynn Motorsports team rolled into I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee on Saturday night, June 9 for a visit by the Schaeffer's Oil Iron-Man Championship Series. Ray stopped the clock second fastest in his group during qualifying to earn the inside of the second row for the start of the $3,000 to win headliner. The Brasstown, North Carolina ace then streaked into the race lead on lap 17, but suffered an untimely flat tire a few laps later. Ray returned to the track with new rubber, but later retired from the 40-lapper in the thirteenth position. Complete results from I-75 Raceway can be found online at www.ctpromotions.org.
The busy stretch of racing action for the #53 team will turn further to the north this upcoming weekend (June 15-16) in a Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series double-dip in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Up first will be a trip to Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky on Friday night for the ‘Johnny Wheeler Memorial,’ which will boast a $4,031 payday. The doubleheader will then wrap up on Saturday evening with the 2nd Annual ‘Mike Roland Memorial’ at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky where a hefty $10,031 top prize will be on the line.
