Kent Robinson Races to First-Career MARS Triumph
Oakshade Raceway Hell Tour Double Shot this Weekend
Bloomington, Indiana (07/09/18) – Kent Robinson registered a career first on Saturday night at Indiana’s Brownstown Speedway. The pilot of the JB’s Disposal Services #7r MB Customs/ Jay D ickens Racing Engine Super Late Model raced to his first-career Mid America Racing Series (MARS) feature win.
Robinson received $5,000 for the victory plus a $500 bonus for being a first-time series winner.
“"Once I got to the lead, I kind of just tried to set a pace," Robinson said. "But you can't (be conservative); if you try to slow down at all it messes up and you get out of your rhythm. So, I had to run hard. It's a demanding racetrack. It looks smooth top to bottom, which it is, but this place, the way it's shaped and the way the race cars are now, you've just got to be elbows up 100 percent of the time. Everything worked out and we were able to get our first win of 2018."
Kent’s racing weekend began on Friday evening, when he was one of 30 DIRTcar Summer Nationals entries registered at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Illinois) for the 16th round of the tour.
After laying down the second-fastest time in his qualifying group, Kent landed a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Shannon Babb, which locked him into the sixth-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Breaking into the Top-5, Kent gained two spots in the finale to finish fourth behind Billy Moyer, Brian Shirley, and Jason Feger with Tim Manville crossing the line in fifth.
Saturday night brought Robinson to Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) for the Mid America Racing Series (MARS) sanctioned Born Free 40. In a field of 27 Super Late Models, Robinson secured his spot into the A-Main with a heat race victory.
Rolling off third for the feature, Kent used the high side to blast into the lead on an early-race restart. He would go on to pace the field for the remaining 37 circuits to pick up his first win of the season and a $5,000 payday.
He also received a $500 bonus for being a first-time MARS winner.
Devin Gilpin, Tanner English, Steve Casebolt, and Shelby Miles completed the Top-5 finishers in the 40-lap affair.

The team will trek to Ohio this weekend – July 13-14 – to compete in the final Hell Tour events of the 2018 season. A doubleheader is set for Oakshade Raceway (Wauseon, Ohio). A $5,000 prize is up for grabs on Friday night with a $10,000 winner’s check on the line for Saturday night’s finale. In 2017 Kent claimed the top prize in the Saturday night finale.
