Scott Bloomquist Claims Career Win #600 in LOLMDS Diamond Nationals
Busy Week of LOLMDS Competition on Tap
Mooresburg, Tennessee (07/16/18) – Scott Bloomquist achieved another monumental feat over the weekend in his Reece Monuments #0 New Direction Ag/ Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.
The Mooresburg, Tennessee racer claimed the $12,000 victory with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) in Saturday night's CMH Diamond Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway. With the triumph he officially registered his 600th career win.
In Lucas Oil Victory Lane on Saturday night, Bloomquist stated that there were so many people to thank as he reached his milestone 600th career victory.
"It seems like it's been a few years since we got number 500 at Brownstown. It's basically been me and Cody Mallory the last few years. We put in so many hours in the shop. It was a good race for the fans. They may have finally got the track to where it's right up there with the best in the country. We are going to keep working hard and maybe we can get to 700 someday."
With 32 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers entered into the event at the state-of-the-art oval, Scott locked into the third-starting spot for Saturday night’s feature, via his performance in preliminary action. The Tennessee racer took advantage of a lap-31 restart to storm past Jimmy Owens and Mason Zeigler to the lead and went on to pace the field for the final 19 circuits on his way to his ninth win of the season and the 600th of his career.
He was followed across the finish line by Zeigler, Earl Pearson Jr., Will Vaught and Jimmy Owens.
One night earlier the weekend opened at Tri City Speedway (Pontoon Beach, Illinois) with the $12,000-to-win, NAPA Know How 50. Scott started his night by earning the third-starting spot for the feature. Unfortunately, luck wouldn't be on his side in the 50-lap finale. While running second, he would dart into the pits during an early-race caution flag. He rejoined the field, but would only be able to manage an 18th-place finish.
Scott is now tied for the second position in the latest LOLMDS standings. Full results from the event are available at www.LucasDirt.com .
This week – July 17-21 – will be a busy time for Scott Bloomquist as he looks to add to his win tally and make up ground in the LOLMDS point’s chase. On Tuesday night he’ll be in action at Brown County Speedway (Aberdeen, South Dakota) in a $10,000-to-win program before invading Jackson Motorplex (Jackson, Minnesota) on Wednesday night for another $10,000-to-win event.
Thursday finds the team thundering into Nebraska’s I-80 Speedway for the $10,000-to-win, Go 50. Friday and Saturday the eighth annual Silver Dollar Nationals comes to life with preliminary action slated for Friday night and the $53,000-to-win finale scheduled for Saturday.
