Dennis Erb, Jr. Pockets $4,000 for Wilmot Win; Excited for Lucrative Dirt Million!
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing celebrated in victory lane for the second time in 2018 on Friday night, August 17 at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin! Dennis Erb, Jr. laid down the second fastest lap in his group during American Ethanol Late Model Tour qualifying before scoring a victory in heat race action. After drawing the fifth starting spot prior to the drop of the green flag in the 50-lap 'Dairyland Duel,' Dennis moved up to second and took advantage of leader Brian Shirley's trouble in lapped traffic on lap 30. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace inherited the point and led the final twenty circuits to pocket the $4,000 payday ahead of Jared Siefert, Ron Berna, Nick Anvelink, and Spencer Diercks!
A similar $4,000 to win American Ethanol Late Model Tour throwdown was then on tap on Saturday evening, August 18 at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois. Dennis knocked down the quickest time in his group during the qualifying session and later picked up another heat race victory. He then advanced past six competitors during the 40-lap main event to secure a strong runner-up performance behind only race winner Brian Shirley. Complete results from both weekend programs can be accessed online at www.aelmt.com.
“It felt good to get back into victory lane again and we keep working hard on this new Rocket car to get it better and better,†exclaimed Erb, Jr. following the weekend. “We’ve got a good piece, but we just have to learn what adjustments to make on it and when to make them. Our notebook is growing with each race and hopefully we can get on a little roll here heading into some of these marquee events coming up on our schedule like the Dirt Million and World 100. I have to thank all of my great sponsors for their continued support including J.R. McBride Leasing, McBride Mack, RhinoAg, Deegan’s Garage, Ideal Ready Mix, M&M Painting & Construction, VoMac Truck Sales, Keyser Manufacturing, and Performance Rod & Custom!â€
The #28 team will now turn their focus to the inaugural ‘Dirt Million,’ which will be held on August 24-25 at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio and will offer one of the richest purses in Dirt Late Model history. The total purse is currently over $372,000, making the winner’s share of Saturday’s 100-lap headliner over $186,000. The 28-car starting field will pay over $3,700 to start, based on the current Dirt Million Ticker that will continue to increase until opening ceremonies on Saturday evening.
Action will get underway at Mansfield on Friday night with a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series duels, each of which will pay $10,000 to the winner. The field will be split into two groups – based on pill draw – and each group will compete in a full program of time trials, heat races, consolation events, and a 30-lap feature. Saturday’s line-ups will then be based on the finishing positions from Friday’s races.
