Scott Bloomquist Wins $10,000 Prelim at 48th annual World 100
Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals this Weekend
Mooresburg, Tennessee (09/10/18) – Scott Bloomquist notched the 602nd victory of his illustrious career on Thursday evening. The latest conquest in his Reece Monuments #0 New Direction Ag/ Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model came at Eldora Speedway in a $10,000-to-win, preliminary event for the 48th annual World 100.
Scott Bloomquist outran Mother Nature and a talented field of racers to score the $10,000 prelim victory on Thursday night during the opening round of the 48th annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio).
After starting seventh for the 25-lap feature, Bloomquist overtook fellow Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer with just five laps remaining in the finale, en route to the win, which marked his eleventh of the 2018 campaign.
“I was pretty sure we were going to get (Moyer),†Bloomquist said. “He ran a little harder tire than everybody out there, and it seemed to be working good for him, you know? … But I think our car was better. I’m just looking forward to the rest of this event.
“People think we like all that controversy, when actually I prefer a nice smooth weekend. Let’s hope this gives us the start we needed to claim our fifth World 100 title."
Michael Norris, Don O'Neal and Dale McDowell completed the Top-5 finishers.
Bloomquist will have to wait another month to resume his pursuit of another World 100 title. Inclement weather forced Friday and Saturday's program to be postponed to October 12-13.
