Jeep Van Wormer Captures First Victory of 2018 Season at Dirt-Covered Berlin!

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer made the last minute decision to invade Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan pay off in a big way on Saturday, September 15, as the Pinconning, Michigan ace recorded his first victory of the 2018 campaign! Jeep knocked down the sixth quickest time in his group during American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) qualifying, but later suffered nose damage in his heat race when he made contact with an inside utility tire. After rebounding in his B-Main to score the victory, Jeep rolled off from the outside of the eighth row in the 40-lap headliner.

On the dirt-covered asphalt speedplant in the 'YellowHose.com 40,' he trilled his home state fans by steering his #55 Rocket by Brucebilt Performance machine towards the front of the field. After a couple of competitors fell by the wayside on the rugged track, Jeep was there to pounce on the opportunity to lead the final ten circuits. He beat Travis Stemler, Brandon Thirlby, Logan Arntz, and Rich Neiser to the checkers to bag the $4,000 winner's check! Complete results from Berlin can be viewed online at www.aelmt.com.

“We haven’t run very much this year in a pretty limited schedule, but it’s nice to get back into victory lane,” quoted Van Wormer this week. “It was a last minute trip because I really didn’t have any crew help lined up until late Friday night to be able to go. The track was dusty and really rough, so we just tried to keep our nose clean and all four tires on the ground during the feature. We made some adjustments to the car that really clicked for the B-Main and obviously the 40-lapper. Hopefully, we can start a little further towards the front this Saturday at Berlin and compete for another win!”

Jeep and his #55 team will make a return trip to Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan this Saturday evening, September 22 for another visit by the AELMT tour. A complete show will be held at the sprawling 7/16-mile oval on Saturday, which culminates in another 40-lap main event. This time; however, a $5,000 top prize will be up for grabs for Jeep and the rest of the competitors.
