Ray Cook Slated for Weekend Off Following Lake Cumberland Classic
(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The #53 team made their way to Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky on October 5-6 for a pair of specials tri-sanctioned by the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series, Schaeffer's Oil Iron-Man Championship Series, and MARS Racing Series.
In Friday night's $3,000 to win weekend opener, Ray Cook ran sixth in his heat race and fifth in his B-Main before utilizing a Fast Time provisional and finishing seventeenth in the 40-lap main event. On Saturday evening in the annual 'Lake Cumberland Classic,' which boasted a $5,000 top prize, Ray timed in fifth quickest in Group B during qualifying, placed third in his stacked heat race, and later closed out the weekend by claiming an eleventh place effort in the 50-lapper. The Wynn Motorsports team is now scheduled to enjoy the upcoming October 12-13 weekend away from the racetrack. Ray will be busy promoting on Saturday; however, as Tri-County Race Track in scenic Brasstown, North Carolina will play host to the annual running of the ‘Tarheel Nationals’ for Go-Karts.
