Dale McDowell Races to Spring Nationals Series Triumph at OSP
Saturday Night Trip to Senoia Raceway Next on the Docket

Mooresburg, Tennessee (03/25/19) – Dale McDowell took the lead on a mid-race restart on Friday night at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in his Shane McDowell Racing/ E-Z-Go #17m New Era Industrial/ Will Kinzer Foundation/ Sweet-Bloomquist Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model. Once out front he never looked back on his way to the $4,000 triumph with the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series.

“We had a good restart on lap 17, and until then I think it was Casey’s (Roberts) race, but he pushed in turn one, and we capitalized,” McDowell said. “We were here back in the early 2000’s but I didn’t remember much about the place. The track got one-laned late, but it was in pretty good shape for most of the night. All-in-all it was a good night for us.

“On Saturday night at Cochran, we missed the setup a little bit, and we just weren’t where we needed to be. We learned a lot though, and we’ll make a few adjustments and come back again.”

Friday night saw Dale McDowell return to action at Oglethorpe Speedway Park (Savannah, Georgia) as the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series opened their 2019 season. With 18 Super Late Models registered for action, McDowell laid down the fastest time in his qualifying group, positioning him second on the starting grid for the opening night feature.

Slipping past polesitter Casey Roberts in turn two following a caution on lap-17, Dale streaked his first win of the season in the 40-lap feature to pick up the $4,000 payday. Roberts, Ashton Winger, Donald McIntosh, and Tim McCreadie trailed him to the checkers.

The following night at Cochran Motor Speedway (Cochran, Georgia), Dale followed up the second-fastest time in qualifying behind Ross Bailes with a 10-lap heat race victory. Starting the $10,000-to-win finale in the third position, McDowell ran in the Top 5 throughout the 60-lapper to place third behind Chris Ferguson and Michael Page with Donald McIntosh and Travis Pennington completing the Top-5 finishers.

Shane McDowell Racing now turns their attention to the upcoming weekend – March 29-30. While Friday night’s plans are still up in the air, McDowell will invade Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Georgia) on Saturday night for the $10,000-to-win, Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals event.
