Dennis Erb, Jr. Turns in Solid Efforts in Badger State; Claims USA Nationals Top Ten
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The 32nd Annual 'USA Nationals' took center stage in the Dirt Late Model world from August 1-3 at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. In the $6,000 to win World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series preliminary program on Thursday night, Dennis Erb, Jr. finished sixth in his loaded heat race, third in his B-Main, and twentieth in the 30-lap feature event. In Friday's double set of qualifying heat races, Dennis won his first heat race from the fifth starting spot prior to advancing to fourth in his final prelim.
After placing fourth in the dash for those drivers earning the most passing points, Dennis rolled off from the outside of the second row in Saturday's 100-lap crown jewel event. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace ran amongst the top five early in the extra distance affair, which carried a whopping $50,000 top prize, and eventually crossed the finish line in the eighth spot at the completion of the 'USA Nationals.' He still finds himself sixth in the latest version of the heated WOOLMS point standings exiting Cedar Lake.
Earlier last week in the Badger State, a hectic month of July wrapped up for the #28 team on July 29-30 with a pair of $10,000 to win mid-week stops with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series. Last Monday night at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wisconsin, Dennis finished third in his heat race prior to picking off four competitors during the course of the 50-lap feature event to nab a strong fifth place performance behind only victor Brandon Sheppard, Chase Junghans, Ricky Weiss, and Brian Shirley. At the sprawling Shawano Speedway in Shawano, Wisconsin on Tuesday evening, Dennis timed in sixth quickest overall during qualifying and ran second in his heat race, but unfortunately slipped back to twelfth in the final finishing order of the 40-lap 'Sundrop Shootout.' Full results from the three Wisconsin venues can be accessed by clicking on www.woolms.com.
With the Outlaws tour sitting idle on August 9-10, Dennis Erb Racing will take advantage of the opportunity to race closer to home this weekend. Dennis is scheduled to compete at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois on Friday night and at Fairbury Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening. Both Land of Lincoln venues will host weekly shows for the Super Late Models, as a $1,000 winner’s check will be on the line at FCR and a $2,500 payday up for grabs at FALS. Additional information on these two Illinois bullrings can be viewed online at www.farmercityracing.com and www.fairburyspeedway.com.
