Dennis Erb, Jr. Ready for Lucrative Dirt Million Following Port Royal Top Ten

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. and his #28 team headed east to the Keystone State from August 16-18 for a trio of $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series shootouts. With the Sunday rain-out at Eriez Speedway in Hammett, Pennsylvania, Dennis competed in only a pair of weekend contests that kicked off on Friday evening at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Dennis timed in seventeenth fastest overall during the qualifying session prior to vaulting up to third in his loaded heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the fourth row in the 40-lap main event, Dennis was battling up inside of the top five when an unfortunate flat tire helped relegate the standout driver to a disappointing seventeenth place showing.

The dirt-slinging action quickly shifted to Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania on Saturday night for a similar program, which also boasted a $10,000 payday. Dennis clicked off the sixth quickest lap in Group A during time trials and later grabbed the second transfer spot through his heat race. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace then drew the sixth starting spot before the drop of the green flag in the 40-lapper and was battling hard for a top five showing before a late race caution helped drop him to eighth in the final finishing order. Dennis still sits sixth in the latest version of the WOOLMS point standings exiting the Keystone State. Full results can be accessed online at www.woolms.com.

Dennis Erb Racing will now turn their focus to the 2nd Annual ‘Dirt Million,’ which will take place from August 22-24 at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series mega-event will kick off later tonight and on Friday at the Buckeye State venue with a pair of duels. Drivers will be split into two groups on each prelim day, which each group competing in its own $10,000 to win preliminary feature.

Competitors earn points based on qualifying, heat races, and main event finishes during the two nights of preliminary action. The point totals will then be combined to set the heat race lineups for Saturday’s lucrative ‘Dirt Million.’ The total purse for the 100-lap crown jewel event currently stands at over $311,000 and is sure to rise prior to opening ceremonies on Saturday. With each of the 30 finishing positions in the ‘Dirt Million’ paid off a percentage of the total purse, the winner is set to receive at least $93,000 while last place will earn at least a $2,500 paycheck. Dennis wound up fourteenth in the inaugural version of the ‘Dirt Million’ last year after winning his consolation race. More information can be located online by clicking on www.DirtMillion.com.
