Rodney Sanders Races to Fall Jamboree Friday Night Win
Clinches USMTS Hunt for Casey’s Cup Championship
Happy, Texas (09/23/19) – Rodney Sanders enjoyed a solid weekend during the 21st annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree at the Queensland family owned, Deer Creek Speedway. He claimed a win, three podium finishes, and clinched the 2019 USMTS Hunt for the Casey’s Cup Championship in his Wichita Tank Racing No. 20 Kenny’s Tile/ ARMI Contractors/ MB Customs/ Hatfield Racing Engine Modified.
“It was definitely a big weekend for our team. While we would’ve liked to have won all three nights, we are still very happy with our performances against such a talented field of competitors,†Sanders said. “We were in contention for the win every night, and that consistency propelled us to the Hunt for the Casey’s Cup Championship.
“We started this year a little slower than I would’ve liked, but once we hit our stride things really started to fall into place. Thanks so much to each-and-every person, who supports our team.â€
Thursday night saw Rodney Sanders return to competition with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at Deer Creek Speedway (Deer Creek, Minnesota) during the opening round of the 21st annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree. In a stout field of 68 entries, Sanders improved seven spots in his heat race to register a runner-up finish behind Adam Hensel. Starting the opening night feature in fourth, Rodney advanced two spots to place second behind Dereck Ramirez with Brandon Davis, Hunter Marriott, and Zack VanderBeek trailing him to the checkers.
The following night, Rodney passed four cars in his heat race to place second behind Austin Siebert. Finishing fourth in the Dash 4 Cash, Sanders earned the eighth-starting position for the main event. Wheeling past Dustin Sorensen for the lead on lap 24, Rodney Sanders fended off challenges from Jake O’Neil late in the 40-lapper to score his 14th win of the season and a $4,000 payday. Dustin Sorensen, O’Neil, Dereck Ramirez, and Zack VanderBeek rounded out the Top-5 finishers.
For the final night of the Featherlite Fall Jamboree on Saturday, Sanders jumped up one spot in his heat to finish second. Passing seven cars in the 50-lap feature, Rodney reeled in a third-place finish behind Jacob Bleess and Brandon Davis with Zack VanderBeek and Lucas Schott completing the Top-5 finishers.
With his performances over the weekend, Rodney captured the Casey’s Cup point’s championship and continues to lead the USMTS National Championship point standings.
