Ricky Weiss Returns to Victory Lane at Smoky Mountain Speedway
Returns to WoO Super Late Model Competition This Weekend
Headingley, Manitoba, Canada (10/01/19) – Ricky Weiss once again visited Victory Lane at Tennessee’s Smoky Mountain Speedway in his Derrick’s Sandblasting No. 7 Kakela Farms/ J&C Properties/ Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Vic Hill Race Engine Super Late Model. His latest conquest at the Tennessee oval came on Saturday night with the Southern All Stars and was worth $7,500.
“We entered two Southern All Star events at Smoky Mountain Speedway this year, and we got two wins. That’s pretty awesome for our team,†Weiss said. “I knew we were real good [in the feature]. I could see [crewman] Shawn's [Gage] signals. His sticks were getting further and further apart. I felt really good until the lapped cars. I was trying to move up, and it was give or take a little bit. The bottom was better one lap, the top was better the next. I tried to go through the middle, but it was a little too dirty. Finally, I was able to clear the traffic, and it was smooth sailing from there.â€
On Saturday night Ricky Weiss visited Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for the Southern All Star Series sanctioned, King of the Mountain Fall Classic. In a field of 26 cars, Weiss topped the charts in time trials, which positioned him on the pole for the main event. Leading wire-to-wire, Ricky cruised to his seventh win of the season over Shanon Buckingham, David Crabtree, David Breazeale, and Eric Wells. Recording his second-career, Southern All Star Series victory, Weiss pocketed $7,500.

World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series competition resumes this weekend for Weiss. He has a trio of $10,000-to-win events scheduled in Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. On Thursday evening the southern swing opens at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Georgia) before shifting to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina) on Friday night. The weekend’s busy slate draws to a close on Saturday evening at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee).
Ricky continues to lead the WoO Rookie of the Year battle and is third in the overall series’ standings.
