Tony Jackson Jr. Wires Lucas Oil Fall Nationals Finale
Next Event Set for Saturday, November 2 at Jackson Motor Speedway
Lebanon, Missouri (10/14/19) – After seeing his momentum slowed by a mechanical failure on Saturday evening, Tony Jackson Jr. triumphantly prevailed on Sunday evening at Lucas Oil Speedway. Jackson Jr.’s seventh win of the year was worth $3,750 in his Merrill Self Storage No. 56 Willard Quarries/ Hassett Truck Body Repair/ Barry Wright Icon Race Car/ Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model.
"We've had a good car ever since we unloaded," Jackson Jr. shared in Victory Lane on Sunday evening at Lucas Oil Speedway. "We broke a shock on the first lap last night and just had to stay out there for points. Sometimes you've just got to take the good with the bad. Sometimes the lapped traffic helps you and sometimes it hurts you. They had a pretty good pace tonight, so I wasn't real anxious to get by them. It was all good."
After Mother Nature shifted the doubleheader back a day, Tony Jackson Jr. followed the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series to Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) on Saturday evening for the event that was co-sanctioned with the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA). Drawing 38 cars for the sixth annual Fall Nationals, Tony locked his spot into the opening night feature with a heat race victory. Rolling off second on the feature grid, Jackson Jr. was running in the fourth position on the 10th circuit, when a broken shock caused him to spin. He rejoined the tail of the pack and limped his car home to an 18th-place finish.
On Sunday afternoon, Jackson Jr. secured his spot into the main event with a 10-lap heat race victory. Earning the pole position, Tony led flag-to-flag in the 40 lapper to capture his seventh win of the season and a $3,000 payday. He also received a $750 bonus in honor of the memory of Ron Jenkins, who was the original builder of Wheatland Raceway.
Payton Looney, Will Vaught, Ryan Gustin, and Timothy Culp trailed Jackson Jr. to the checkers in the 40-lap affair.
With two events remaining, Tony remains in a tight battle for the lead in the latest CCSDS point standings. He’s just 23 markers removed from the top spot. Full results from the weekend are available at www.COMPDirt.com .
