Ray Cook Charges to Sixth Place Effort in Ultimate Series Opener at North Georgia
(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook, of Brasstown, North Carolina, continued his 2020 campaign on Friday night, March 13 at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series lifted the lid to their racing season with a $4,000 to win shootout and 21 competitors signed into the pit area at the northern Georgia oval to do battle in the one-day show.
Ray clicked off the fourteenth quickest lap overall during time trials, which locked him into the outside of the seventh row for the start of the 40-lap affair. The driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" then worked his way past eight competitors during the contest to land a strong sixth place performance behind only race winner Donald McIntosh, Zack Mitchell, Cory Hedgec0ck, Booger Brooks, and Jeff Smith. The #53 team is set to take the upcoming March 20-21 weekend off from racing action. With the coronavirus pandemic canceling or postponing events across the country, it is unclear when and where Ray will sling dirt next. However, Ray will be hosting a limited practice session (with less than 100 people) this Thursday evening, March 19 from 6:00pm-9:00pm at Tri-County Race Track in his hometown of Brasstown.
