Rome Provides Second Straight Win for Tony Knowles
Tyrone, Georgia (06/21/11) – Just a week after claiming his first win of the year Tony Knowles won his second straight event to the tune of $2,000 as he powered his #26 RSD Enterprises/SAE Parts/Rocket/Custom Racing Engine Super Late Model to the feature win at Rome Speedway.
Tony made the last minute decision to enter the $2,000 to win event at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia), and it would prove to be a great decision as he claimed his second win in as many races, and his second win of the year. With 19 cars entered into the event, Knowles would start on the second row for the feature, as he ran third during the opening circuits to Aaron Ridley and Casey Roberts. However, on a lap 8 restart, Knowles would use the high line to race his way past Ridley and Roberts to take over the top spot. He would never look back as he led the final twenty-two laps to claim the win, which came over Ridley, Ronnie Johnson, Robert Gant, and Frank Ingram. Full results are available at www.DixieSpeedway.com/Rome/ .
After seeing the event nixed last Saturday by rain and rescheduled for this Saturday Tony will be in action with the Southern All Stars Dirt Series this weekend with a $5,000 to win/$300 to start event at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) on Saturday night, June 25th. Knowles is currently tied for 6th in the latest series' standings, and will be looking to make up ground this Saturday.
