Rod Conley Tackles Weeklong Summer Nationals Grind Starting Tonight in Indiana
(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams were busy over the Independence Day holiday weekend across the states of Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. On Thursday night, July 3 at Mudlick Valley Raceway in Wallingford, Kentucky, the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series presided over the $10,000 to win '4B4EVER 40' and both Rod and R.J. Conley were in the pit area. Rod ran fourth in his heat race during preliminary action before advancing two spots to finish eighth in the 40-lap headliner. R.J., on the other hand, placed third in his heat race, but shredded a right rear tire in the A-Main and was relegated to a disappointing nineteenth place performance.
At Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on Friday evening, July 4, a $25,000 top prize was up for grabs with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in the 'Independence 50.' R.J. nabbed the fourth transfer spot through his loaded heat race and later rolled off from the outside of the sixth row in the 50-lap feature. During the course of the attrition-filled contest, the Wheelersburg, Ohio ace pitted on a couple of different occasions and eventually wound up being paid for a fourteenth place showing.
In the Hoosier State on Saturday, July 5, Rod competed for a $10,000 paycheck at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana in an event that was co-sanctioned by the DIRTcar Summer Nationals and the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series. "Hot Rod" utilized an Iron-Man provisional to gain access into the 40-lapper and was able to pick off six competitors to salvage a fifteenth place effort. Rod’s #71R team will be the lone CMI team in action this week, as they have six Summer Nationals showdowns on their radar in the states of Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio from July 8-13. Rod will battle the “Hell Tour” foes at Shadyhill Speedway in Medaryville, Indiana later tonight, at Montpelier Motor Speedway in Montpelier, Indiana on Wednesday, at Butler Motor Speedway in Quincy, Michigan on Thursday, at Crystal Motor Speedway in Crystal, Michigan on Friday, at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio on Saturday, and at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio on Sunday.
