Dennis Erb, Jr. Celebrates on World of Outlaws Podium in Sharon Finale; Heads to Iowa & South Dakota
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing ventured east to Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio with the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series on July 11-12. The two-day 'Battle at the Border' kicked off on Friday night with a $12,000 to win throwdown. Dennis Erb, Jr. laid down the eighth quickest time in Group B during the qualifying session before running second in his heat race. After drawing the inside of the third row for the start of the main event, Dennis wound up eighth in the final rundown of the 40-lap contest.
On Saturday evening with a $15,000 paycheck up for grabs in the weekend finale, Dennis stopped the clock third fastest in Group B prior to picking up an impressive heat race triumph. After drawing the pole position and leading the first six circuits, the Carpentersville, Illinois standout rounded out the podium in third - after fifty green flag laps - behind only victor Mike Marlar and runner-up Bobby Pierce. Following the completion of the 'Battle at the Border,' Dennis still finds himself sixth in the latest version of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point standings. With the Outlaws tour sitting idle this week, the #28 team will hit the road with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series starting later tonight, July 15 at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa. The midweek running of the ‘Kosiski Family 53’ will shell out a $25,053 first place prize. Following tonight’s big show in the Hawkeye State, the dirt-slinging action will quickly shift to the ‘Silver Dollar Nationals’ at Huset’s Speedway.
The Brandon, South Dakota oval will play host to three straight nights of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition from July 17-19. A pair of $10,000 to win preliminary programs on Thursday and Friday will set the stage for Saturday’s grand finale, which boasts a whopping $75,000 windfall.
