Dennis Erb, Jr. Runner-Up in $30,000 National 100; Set to Conclude Outlaws Season in Charlotte
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The 52nd edition of the 'National 100' was held from October 31-November 2 at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama. The unsanctioned, late-season Super Late Model special consisted of three straight nights of racing action. On Friday with a $5,000 payday up for grabs, Dennis Erb, Jr. ran fourth in his heat race before passing four competitors during the 30-lap feature en route to a solid eighth place showing.
Racing for a $10,000 top prize on Saturday night, Dennis finished second in his heat race and later rolled off from the outside of the third row in the 35-lap main event. Unfortunately, the Carpentersville, Illinois ace was caught up in an opening lap incident and had to battle back from the tail of the field. At the checkers, Dennis had rallied to salvage a seventh place performance.
At EAMS on Sunday evening, a whopping $30,000 winner's check was on the line in the annual running of the 'National 100.' By virtue of his prelim efforts, Dennis started the 100-lap headliner from the outside of the fourth row. He then charged all the way up to second in the contest to finish an impressive runner-up behind only victor Tyler Erb! After a short week, the Dennis Erb Racing team now finds themselves at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina for the 19th edition of the ‘World Finals.’ The World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series season will wrap up from November 5-8 at the Charlotte-area speedplant. Action gets underway later this evening with the Super Late Models competing in two rounds of qualifying around the 4/10-mile oval.
Those laps tonight will set the lineups for the heat races on both Thursday and Friday - with each prelim program culminating in a $15,000 to win feature. On Saturday evening in the grand finale, points from the two prelim shows will dictate the starting lineups for the $25,000 to win headliner. Dennis comes into the ‘World Finals’ tied for fifth in the latest version of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point standings.
