Speedway Promoter in Critical Accident

California speedway promoter Tony Noceti and his wife, Rowena, were involved in a head on traffic accident in the Central Valley on Sunday and both were hospitalized for emergency surgeries. Yesterday Tony underwent more surgery and was still listed as critical. The accident was the result of another driver trying to pass a car in central CA's dreaded Tule Fog which pops up suddenly this time of year leaving zero vision. Tony is very well thought of in the area and promotes both Stockton 99 Speedway, a paved 1/4 he brought back from obscurity several years ago and the Stockton Dirt Track at the Fairgrounds across the road. The man has also revived several festivals that lost their homes and does a ton of charity work. He's the picture of energy and is well loved by both the racers and the fans for treating everyone right. All are wishing and praying for a full recovery for both.

An update on the Noceti's from their daughters includes both good and promising news. On the good side is that Rowena, Tony's wife, was released from the hospital yesterday and is recovering at home. Promising is that Tony, after a rough weekend not giving a lot of hope, will undergo another surgery today or tomorrow with hopes of being able to remove him from the tubing and start to put him on a long and difficult recovery. For obvious reasons, both the Paved Stockton 99 Speedway and the Stockton Dirt Track schedules for '26 are on hold at this point. We do know that the Dirt Track's January 3 race won't happen so we'll put our car back up on the blocks for the winter and concentrate on hoping the best for Tony and Ro.

The latest update on Tony's condition is the best in the 12 days since the accident. They were able to disconnect the ventilator yesterday and, with the help of high flow oxygen, he is breathing on his own and able to communicate with his family. Some more surgeries today although not as life threatening as the many others he has had to endure. The long , tough road to recovery will start and everyone is so thankful to hear that. You can't keep a tough old farm boy down.
