(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Speedweeks journey for Dennis Erb, Jr. wrapped up from March 4-7 at Golden Isles Speedway, as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over four big events at the Brunswick, Georgia-area speedplant. On Wednesday night in the opener, which boasted a $7,000 paycheck, Dennis ran fifth in his heat race, won his B-Main, and later placed sixteenth in the final rundown of the 30-lap feature. In Thursday's $10,000 to win program, Dennis finished seventh in his heat race, third in his B-Main, and seventh in the 40-lapper after passing a remarkable fifteen racecars.
At GIS on Friday evening with a $12,000 top prize up for grabs, Dennis ran seventh in his heat race, second in his B-Main, and twenty-first in the 50-lap main event. With a hefty $25,000 winner's check on the line in Saturday's grand finale, the Carpentersville, Illinois standout finished sixth in his heat race and second in his B-Main prior to blasting past eleven competitors during the 50-lapper en route to an impressive ninth place effort. Up first will be a visit to the high-banked Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee on Friday night, March 13. The ‘Rocky Top Rumble’ tomorrow at “The Gap” will shell out a $12,000 payday.
The dirt-slinging action will then quickly shift to Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee on Saturday evening, March 14. The annual running of the ‘Tennessee Tipoff’ will pay $20,000 to the winner to wrap up the weekend. Dennis comes into the doubleheader ninth in the latest version of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point standings.
