Ashton Winger Doubles Up with Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series at Magnolia
Scores $20,000 Sweep in Clash at the Mag
HAMPTON, Ga. (June 15, 2026) — Ashton Winger tightened the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series title chase over the weekend with a sweep of Magnolia Motor Speedway’s Ollie’s Clash at the Mag.
The Jeff Mathews Motorsports driver piloted his RV Select Inc. No. 12 Rocket Chassis Late Model to a pair of victories in Mississippi worth a combined $20,000 while moving into a tie atop the tour's all-time wins list with five career triumphs.
"I'll be honest, Jake was so far gone I thought I was going to run second," Winger said after Saturday's victory. "Then I looked up on the board and there was like five (laps) to go. ... I could see Jake, and then I saw he had a lapped car or two giving him trouble. And man, things are so aerodynamic that, you know, just whenever you get in bad air and it's rough like that, it's really just all about finding a clean, smooth line."
Winger's Mississippi doubleheader began in impressive fashion on Friday as the Mathews Motorsports team topped the 36-car field in qualifying with a blistering lap of 13.117 seconds. After cruising to a heat race victory, Winger won an early battle with Zack Mitchell and drove away to capture the $8,000-to-win opener.
“S—t man, I wasn’t worried about the redraw, I just know I’m gonna draw the four (pill),” Winger said after Friday’s preliminary triumph. “If you’re going to win these races, it don’t matter if you start on the pole or 10th. I don’t want to leave nobody out, thinking I’m dogging nobody, but it’s in my opinion, the best regional tour in America”
Saturday's finale proved to be more challenging. After advancing into the feature with a runner-up finish in his heat race, Winger rolled off from the third row and spent much of the race battling among the frontrunners.
After leading laps 18-20 and 28-32, Winger tracked down race leader Jake O'Neil in the closing stages. He secured the lead for good on lap 48 and paced the final three circuits to complete the weekend sweep.
The victory was worth $12,000 and pushed Winger's weekend earnings to $20,000.
Winger now sits eight points behind Zack Mitchell in the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series championship standings.

Fresh off his Magnolia sweep, Winger will look to stay hot this weekend as the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series invades Alabama for a two-race swing. The weekend opens Friday at Penton Speedway and concludes Saturday with the BJ Parker Memorial at Talladega Short Track.
