Dustin Sorensen Charges to Duane Mahder Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway

ROCHESTER, Minn. (July 21, 2026) — Dustin Sorensen made the most of a weekend away from the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, storming from 17th to capture a $10,555 victory in Saturday's Duane Mahder Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway.
After claiming the final transfer spot in his heat race, Sorensen raced from 17th to the front, outlasting Ashley Anderson in a late-race duel to earn his first victory of the season.
"I kept picking cars off there on the bottom and I didn’t really want to go to the top,” Sorensen said. “Then a couple guys were maintaining (position) up top there, so I figured I’d try it and it worked really good there in (turns) one and two, for sure, kinda had to flow three and four. That was a blast, I’m wore out. I probably wouldn’t have won it, but I was a little pissed off there at the end, trying to wreck my car in one and two, but I guess it worked."
Sorensen opened the weekend Thursday with a trip to Dodge County Speedway for the USRA Modified portion of the Dave Wetzstein Memorial. After finishing third in his heat race, he advanced two positions in the 30-lap feature to record a ninth-place finish.
Back behind the wheel of his No. 19 Longhorn Chassis Late Model on Saturday, Sorensen patiently worked his way through the field before taking command on lap 37. After briefly losing the lead, he reclaimed the top spot on lap 52 and drove away to his second career victory in the Late Model division at Cedar Lake Speedway’s 3/8-mile oval.

Sorensen resumes World of Outlaws Late Model Series competition this week at the 36th annual Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway. Friday's preliminary program sets the stage for Saturday's $50,000-to-win finale at the quarter-mile oval.
