Dennis Erb, Jr. Amasses Trio of Top Tens; Remains in Hawkeye State This Week
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) From August 18-22, Dennis Erb Racing tackled a quartet of high-profile events in the Hawkeye State and was able to rack up a trio of top ten performances. Things kicked off with a pair of $20,000 to win FloRacing Night in America Series showdowns. On Tuesday at Marshalltown Speedway in Marshalltown, Iowa, Dennis Erb, Jr. grabbed the third transfer spot through his heat race before advancing to finish ninth in the 50-lap feature. At Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa on Wednesday, Dennis placed eighth in both his heat race and his B-Main, utilized a series provisional, and later moved past six competitors during the 50-lapper to salvage a seventeenth place showing.
The World of Outlaws Late Model Series then sanctioned the annual ‘Hawkeye 100’ over the weekend at Maquoketa Speedway in Maquoketa, Iowa. With a $12,000 payday up for grabs in Friday’s weekend opener, Dennis finished fourth in his heat race and tenth in the 40-lap main event. On Saturday with a hefty $25,000 winner’s check on the line in the ‘Hawkeye 100’ grand finale, the Carpentersville, Illinois ace placed sixth in his heat race, fourth in his B-Main, and eighth in the 60-lap headliner despite getting caught up in a lap-three pileup. The #28 team has remained in the state of Iowa for three more World of Outlaws Late Model Series shootouts this week. Up first will be a visit to Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa later tonight, August 26 for a $12,000 to win program. A pair of $20,000 to win contests will then take place on Friday, August 28 at Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa and on Saturday, August 29 at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa.
