Tyler Erb Tops Corn Belt Showdown at Southern Iowa Speedway

Tyler Erb Tops Corn Belt Showdown at Southern Iowa Speedway
Collects $12,000 for Seventh Win of the Season

ST. MARYS, Ohio (August 31, 2026) — Tyler Erb kicked off a three-race Iowa swing with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series by scoring his seventh victory of the season Wednesday night at Southern Iowa Speedway.

The Best Performance Motorsports driver lowered the track record in qualifying before rallying from seventh to capture the $12,000 Corn Belt Showdown aboard the Langenfelder Mechanical Contractors No. 1 Rocket Chassis Late Model.

“It’s so hard to be fast, and tonight, from the moment we unloaded, I was like, ‘Alright, I’m fast again,” Erb said. “That’s a good feeling. You lose it for four days, you forget how to do it. Just made some small changes. It’s a lot like Knoxville [Raceway], especially when it gets them slick spots in it, you can about spin out off the corner. Ricky [Kay, track prep specialist] and them redeemed themselves. I dogged on them last week about Maquoketa [Speedway], but this was fun as hell.”

Erb opened the week by setting a new track record in time trials with a blistering 17.477-second lap before slipping to a third-place finish in his heat race. Starting seventh in the 35-lap feature, the New Waverly, Texas, native steadily worked his way forward before taking command and pacing the final 15 laps to secure the victory.

Friday’s visit to Adams County Speedway presented another challenge, with Erb finishing sixth in his heat race before charging forward 12 positions in the $20,000 OSR Southwest Iowa Shootout feature to finish fourth.

Erb closed the Iowa swing Saturday at Shelby County Speedway, finishing sixth in the $20,000-to-win Harlan Late Model Showdown.

The three-race stretch left Erb with finishes of first, fourth and sixth as he maintained his third-place position in the World of Outlaws standings.

Erb and the Best Performance Motorsports team will have three weeks off from World of Outlaws competition, but one of the sport’s biggest crown jewels awaits on the other side. The 56th annual World 100 is scheduled for September 10-12 at Eldora Speedway.
