Rod Conley Runner-Up in Iron-Man Classic; Busy Labor Day Weekend Ahead for CMI

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) competed in one lone event last weekend, as they invaded the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday, August 29 for the annual running of the 'Iron-Man Classic.' The Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series sanctioned the special event, which drew 29 competitors to PRP to vie for the $7,500 winner's check. Rod Conley laid down the second quickest lap overall during time trials prior to securing a heat race triumph. After rolling off from the outside of the front row in the 30-lap feature event, Rod drove to an impressive runner-up performance behind only victor Kody Evans!

His brother R.J. Conley was also in action at Portsmouth Raceway Park and started his evening off by posting the seventh fastest time during qualifying. The Wheelersburg, Ohio ace unfortunately suffered a flat tire in his heat race and was forced to rally from the back of the B-Main to finish in the runner-up spot. R.J. then steered past six competitors during the 30-lapper to salvage an eleventh place showing. Complete results from the 'Iron-Man Classic' can be accessed online at www.imdirt.net.

Both drivers have busy Labor Day weekend plans, but each will head their own separate way. Rod Conley will follow the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series to Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio (September 4), Montpelier Speedway in Montpelier, Indiana (September 5), and Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio (September 6). A $15,049 winner’s check will be up for grabs later tonight in the ‘Stephen Wagner Memorial’ at Attica, while events at Montpelier and Eldora will both boast a $5,000 payday.

R.J. Conley will stay closer to home this holiday weekend and enter a lucrative doubleheader at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. A $5,000 first place prize will be up for grabs later this evening at PRP, while Saturday’s weekend finale will pay a hefty $20,000 to the winner. Get the latest, up-to-date information on all five of these Labor Day weekend races by accessing the Iron-Man Series and Portsmouth Raceway Park Facebook pages.
