Brian Shirley Earns First Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Victory at Brownstown
Collects $56,000 Payday in Jackson 100
CHILTON, Wis. (Sept. 26, 2026) — The wait is over for Brian Shirley, who captured his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win Saturday night at Brownstown Speedway.
The Chatham, Illinois, racer led all 100 laps of the 36th annual Jackson 100, earning a $56,000 payday aboard the Bob Cullen Racing No. 3s Longhorn Chassis Late Model.
“It sounds great to be a Lucas Oil winner. There are a few things I want to do in my career before I hang up the hat and one of them was win a Lucas Oil race. I wasn’t wanting to end my career without a Lucas Oil win. This is so rewarding, you know we race against the best guys in the country week in and week out and we get our teeth kicked in here and there.”
Shirley opened the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series doubleheader at the Indiana oval Friday by securing the fourth and final transfer spot from his heat race to lock into the preliminary feature. He went on to finish 17th in the 40-lap, caution-free affair.
On Saturday, Shirley backed up the seventh-fastest qualifying effort in his group with a third-place finish in his heat race. Starting ninth in the 100-lap Jackson 100, he steadily worked his way forward before taking the lead from close friend and Florida racer Kyle Bronson on lap 24.
Shirley then fended off a late challenge from Josh Rice to win by 0.646 seconds and collect the $50,000 winner’s purse. His payday was boosted to $56,000 with a $5,000 bonus from UNOH and a $1,000 bonus from Steering Buddy.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series roars back to life this weekend with the 38th annual Pittsburgher at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Friday’s preliminary program will be followed by another full program Saturday, culminating with a $50,000-to-win finale.
